LIFE IS TOO CONNECTED FOR YOU TO LIVE SELFISHLY. - LA VIE EST TROP INTERCONNECTEÉ POUR QUE VOUS PUISSIEZ VIVRE DE MANIÈRE ÉGOÏSTE.

Work is where we get to use what we have to create the kind of life we want in an environment that is conducive for growth and development. A place where lives are improved because everyone is using what they have to the advantage of everyone. When we plan on enjoying life this way, the first thing we need to figure out would be our natural endowments. Then depending on at what point you come to the realisation of your ‘why’, you will also have to look at what other attributes you have acquired through education and life lessons in general. There are those who are fortunate enough to have figured things out before they chose a career path or before they began the pursuit of their vision. With this category of people, they start making choices early that will help them productively deploy whatever they have in their contributions to the

development of their environment.

The question "WHAT?" will help us use the understanding of our ‘why’ to the benefit of others. We need to be able to take an inventory of what we have as resources in order to determine where, how, or why we have the opportunity to be in possession of what we have. This is so important because we live in a world where we are majorly concerned with the end and not the means. Then we turn around and wonder why so many people are so frustrated with their jobs. The TGIF (Thank God it’s Friday) joy on Fridays and the dread of Mondays is a testament to the world in which we have found ourselves where we are not really interested in what we do because all we really want to do is earn a living. I believe life is meant to be enjoyed not just in times set apart for leisure but more importantly in work as well. 

 There are, however, those who take a longer route and time to discover who they are and what resources they have that will help them walk the path. This discovery will bring them the satisfaction of being a contributing member to the growth of a community. At whatever point we get to this place, we have to decide what it will take for us to use what we have to add value to the development of our environment. A lot of people who have not spent time examining life along these lines believe that what they have is for their own growth and success. Because of this belief they have refused to confront the ‘why’ of their existence. Life as we generally understand it, especially in a world that is getting more and more competitive, is a game of strength where the fittest survives and enslaves the weak. We therefore only see all we have as weapons rather than gifts and talents that can be used for the greater good. Unfortunately, we rarely think of how we can use what we have to improve our environment unless there is something for us to gain.

Le travail nous permet d'utiliser nos ressources pour créer la vie que nous souhaitons, dans un environnement propice à l'épanouissement et au développement. Un lieu où la vie s'améliore car chacun met ses atouts au service de tous. Pour profiter pleinement de la vie, il faut d'abord identifier nos aptitudes naturelles. Ensuite, selon le moment où l'on prend conscience de son « pourquoi », il faut également considérer les autres qualités acquises grâce à l'éducation et aux leçons de la vie. Certains ont la chance d'avoir trouvé leur voie avant même de choisir une carrière ou de se lancer dans la réalisation de leur vision. Ces personnes font très tôt des choix qui leur permettent de mettre leurs talents au service du développement de leur environnement.

Se poser la question « QUOI ? » nous aide à utiliser la compréhension de notre « pourquoi » au profit d'autrui. Il est essentiel de faire l'inventaire de nos ressources pour déterminer où, comment et pourquoi nous avons la chance de les posséder. C'est crucial, car nous vivons dans un monde où l'on se préoccupe surtout du résultat et non des moyens. Puis on s'étonne de la frustration de tant de personnes au travail. La joie du vendredi et la redoute du lundi témoignent du monde dans lequel nous vivons, où

nous ne nous intéressons plus vraiment à ce que nous faisons, car notre seul objectif est de gagner notre vie. Je crois que la vie est faite pour être appréciée, non seulement pendant les loisirs, mais aussi, et c'est tout aussi important, au travail.

Certains, cependant, choisissent un chemin plus long, celui de se découvrir et d'identifier les ressources dont ils disposent pour avancer. Cette découverte leur apporte la satisfaction de contribuer au développement de la communauté. À ce stade, il nous faut décider comment mettre nos atouts au service de l'amélioration de notre environnement. Nombreux sont ceux qui, n'ayant pas pris le temps d'examiner la vie sous cet angle, pensent que leurs possessions sont destinées à leur propre épanouissement et à leur réussite. C’est à cause de cette croyance qu’ils ont refusé de s’interroger sur le sens de leur existence. La vie, telle que nous la concevons généralement, surtout dans un monde de plus en plus compétitif, est une lutte de force où les plus forts survivent et asservissent les plus faibles. Nous ne voyons donc que des armes dans tout ce que nous possédons, plutôt que des dons et des talents que nous pourrions mettre au service du bien commun. Malheureusement, nous réfléchissons rarement à la manière dont nous pourrions utiliser nos ressources pour améliorer notre environnement, sauf si nous y trouvons notre compte.

There is is power in suggestions and when you are alert to your environment and its needs, it will be easy for you to make suggestions. Of course, they might not always be accepted because human beings can be petty and rebuffs are expected. This does not mean that you give up. Only those who do not understand their value and their purpose will do that. No one individual or group can build a community. So, if your idea is rejected, prove yourself by doing something with so much excellence that it cannot be rejected. The reason most people who do not know their ‘why’ easily quit is because they think they are doing some people a favour. There are many ways to kill a rat. If you first understand the importance of your contributions to your community and society. You will not be the first to be rejected, you will not be easily discouraged. Those who understand that they are living for something bigger than themselves, will always find a way to prove people wrong. 

It is this kind of attitude that helps people to stamp their presence on their community and even the larger society. People who have this understanding are more intentional in how they live and more resourceful with what they have. This translates into less energy left to complain and find fault with every other person other than themselves. A good grasp of your ‘why’ will definitely help you to see things differently and also choose with who and in what you should be involved. With this knowledge in hand, you will begin to see the resources available to you in another light. Then while others are looking for things that are right in front of them, you will already have a handle on that. This means that while others are still searching, you are one step ahead, looking for ways to add value to what others have taken for granted or completely ignored.

There are two major groups of people in any given community; the ones that are inquisitive enough to always want to know the origin and potential of what is around them and those who could not be bothered and are satisfied with what others have made available. That is the reason why we have to make it our priority to understand our ‘why’. You cannot be intentional if you do not understand the purpose why you are making all the effort and making sometimes difficult and inconvenient choices. You have to be in a position to understand how your purpose ties into what is happening in your environment. 

This is what will enable you join the value chain of your community and whatever environment you find yourself.

Ainsi, si votre idée est rejetée, faites vos preuves en accomplissant quelque chose d'une telle excellence qu'elle soit irréfutable. La plupart des personnes qui ignorent leur « pourquoi » abandonnent facilement car elles pensent rendre service à autrui. Il existe de nombreuses façons d'atteindre un objectif. Si vous comprenez d'abord l'importance de votre contribution à votre communauté et à la société, vous ne serez pas le premier à essuyer des refus et vous ne vous découragerez pas facilement. Ceux qui comprennent qu'ils vivent pour quelque chose de plus grand qu'eux-mêmes trouveront toujours le moyen de prouver à ceux qui les contestent.

C'est ce genre d'attitude qui permet aux individus de marquer de leur empreinte leur communauté, voire la société dans son ensemble. Les personnes qui comprennent cela vivent de manière plus intentionnelle et utilisent leurs ressources avec plus d'ingéniosité. Cela se traduit par moins d'énergie consacrée aux plaintes et à la critique des autres. Bien comprendre son « pourquoi » permet d'aborder les choses différemment et de choisir avec qui et dans quoi s'impliquer. Grâce à cette connaissance, on perçoit les ressources à sa disposition sous un autre angle. Ainsi, tandis que d'autres cherchent ce qui est sous leurs yeux, on l'a déjà compris. On a donc une longueur d'avance, on cherche à valoriser ce que d'autres tiennent pour acquis ou ignorent.

Dans toute communauté, on distingue deux grands groupes de personnes : celles qui sont suffisamment curieuses pour toujours vouloir connaître l'origine et le potentiel de ce qui les entoure, et celles qui se contentent de ce que les autres mettent à leur disposition. C'est pourquoi il est essentiel de comprendre son « pourquoi ». On ne peut agir avec intention si l'on ne comprend pas le but de tous ces efforts et des choix parfois difficiles et contraignants que cela implique. Il est essentiel de comprendre comment cet objectif s'inscrit dans votre environnement. C'est ce qui vous permettra de contribuer à la chaîne de valeur de votre communauté et de votre environnement, quel qu'il soit.

WHY ARE YOU PURSUING WHAT YOU ARE PURSUING? - POURQUOI POURSUIVEZ-VOUS CE QUE VOUS POURSUIVEZ ?

The ‘WHY’ of any journey is terribly important. If we do not comprehend this, we will use the wrong vehicle and take the wrong route. Many have followed the trend in choosing career paths and jobs only to discover that there is more to them than what they are doing to earn a living. Since there is a ‘why’ to every life, there are those flashes of imagination that come to us that if we paid attention, would help us navigate our ‘why’ and align ourselves to in order for us to live a more fulfilled life. However, what happens is that by the time most of us become sensitive enough, we are already engrossed in trying to make a living and not enjoying life in all its beauty. This is a very difficult subject to broach in a world

characterized by the rat race. A race where what is paramount to most, is who becomes the fastest rat in the race to prosperity. 

When the only thing considered important is what we will profit at the end, there is no consideration given to what makes life more meaningful and more enjoyable. In the rat race, we do not think of who we are in the sense of how we can join with others to create better communities. Rather we are more concerned about who we can outrun and make a name and a lot of money for ourselves. After that, we look back and say we need to give back. Ironically, this is after we have spent so much time acquiring so much, resulting sometimes in creating a trail of poverty behind us filled with those now just struggling to get through life. If we are true to ourselves, in our quiet moments, there are some nagging questions that are begging for

answers but we do not pay attention to them. 

Consequently, there is usually this predominant urge to succeed in life overriding the urge to be someone who adds value to life itself. I, as a person (and I believe many other people) will relate to this. Often I find myself wondering why I am interested in some things that others are not interested in. I also wonder why I am attracted to people in a way that others would not consider necessary given the same circumstances. We have to take time to ponder these things if we intend to live life to the fullest. These are thoughts that awaken in us as to who we really are and why we are the way we are. Most people are nonchalant about their lives because they do not know that they are a part of the constant construction of life going on around them. If you do not bothered to think about your 'why', only an external pull or push can move you from one place to another. You will constantly be looking for who or what to leverage.

Le « POURQUOI » de tout voyage est d'une importance capitale. Si nous ne le comprenons pas, nous emprunterons la mauvaise voie. Nombreux sont ceux qui ont suivi la tendance en choisissant des carrières et des emplois, pour finalement découvrir qu'il y a plus en eux que ce qu'ils font pour gagner leur vie. Puisqu'il y a un « pourquoi » à chaque vie, il existe ces éclairs d'imagination qui nous viennent à l'esprit et qui, si nous y prêtions attention, nous aideraient à découvrir notre « pourquoi » et à nous y aligner afin de vivre une vie plus épanouie. Cependant, il arrive souvent que, lorsque nous devenons suffisamment sensibles à cela, nous soyons déjà absorbés par la nécessité de gagner notre vie et non par celle de profiter de toute sa beauté. C'est un sujet très difficile à aborder dans un monde

caractérisé par la course effrénée. Une course où ce qui prime pour la plupart, c'est de devenir le plus rapide dans la course à la prospérité.

Lorsque la seule chose qui compte est ce que nous en retirerons à la fin, on ne se soucie plus de ce qui rend la vie plus riche de sens et plus agréable. Dans cette course effrénée, nous ne réfléchissons pas à qui nous sommes, ni à la manière dont nous pouvons nous unir aux autres pour bâtir des communautés meilleures. Nous sommes plutôt préoccupés par qui nous pouvons surpasser, nous faire un nom et amasser beaucoup d'argent. Après coup, nous nous retournons et disons qu'il faut rendre la pareille. Paradoxalement, c'est après avoir consacré tant de temps à accumuler tant de biens, laissant parfois derrière nous un sillage de pauvreté, peuplé de personnes qui luttent désormais pour survivre. Si nous sommes honnêtes avec nous-mêmes, dans nos moments de calme, des questions lancinantes appellent des réponses, mais nous ne leur prêtons pas attention.

Par conséquent, ce besoin impérieux de réussir dans la vie l'emporte souvent sur le désir d'apporter une contribution positive à la société. Personnellement (et je pense que beaucoup d'autres aussi), je m'y reconnais. Je me demande souvent pourquoi je m'intéresse à certaines choses qui n'intéressent pas les autres. Je me demande aussi pourquoi je suis attiré par certaines personnes d'une manière que d'autres ne jugeraient pas nécessaire dans les mêmes circonstances. Nous devons prendre le temps de réfléchir à ces questions si nous voulons vivre pleinement notre vie. Ces réflexions nous permettent de mieux comprendre qui nous sommes vraiment et pourquoi nous sommes tels que nous sommes. La plupart des gens sont insouciants face à leur existence car ils ignorent qu'ils participent à la construction constante de la vie qui se déroule autour d'eux. Si vous ne prenez pas la peine de réfléchir à votre « pourquoi », seule une force extérieure pourra vous faire avancer. Vous serez constamment à la recherche de quelqu'un ou de quelque chose sur quoi vous appuyer.
